Entrepreneurship Projects

Over the course of 4 years at Ashoka University, I have worked on a range of academic, entrepreneurship and business analysis projects which have involved working on different elements of business such as strategy, marketing, consulting, finance, customer acquisition strategy and operations. Below are glimpses where I've demonstrated my work and discussed my contribution. 

Design Thinking Live Project - Customer Acquisition Strategy 

Ashoka University — (Mar 2021 - May 2021)

In this 8 week long live project which was part of an entrepreneurship course "Creativity and Design Thinking", I worked in a team of 4 and proposed an effective customer acquisition strategy for a South African Youth Empowerment Startup to help expand its market reach. Used Design Thinking tools and structures including empathy mapping, mind mapping, 6 thinking hats and created prototypes to validate customer response. 

Digital Marketing Campaign 

Ashoka University — (Mar 2022 - May 2022)

Built a platform called “BingeIt!”, a short and to the point review blog for TV shows, giving consumers the information they need to decide which TV show to Binge in less than 200 words so they would spend less time deciding and more time watching. Also launched a digital marketing campaign, tracked Website Analytics, performed SEO, created Google Ads and Facebook Ads Campaign, analysed Ad statistics, Marketing Ratios and other KPIs. 

Startup Pitch - Social - A Holistic Career Development Platform 

Ashoka University — (Sep 2021 - Dec 2021)

Built a new business plan from scratch for my idea “Social” - which is a holistic career development platform taking students careers to the next level. Identified a gap in the market, proposed possible solutions/business ideas, performed detailed customer segmentation, qualitative and quantitative analysis, leveraged customer feedback to build the core product package. Also built prototypes and created a comprehensive operations, marketing and financial plan.

Marketing and Financial Analysis for a New Product

Ashoka University — (Mar 2021 - May 2021)

Created a new business plan for launching a new product for Naukri (www.naukri.com – India’s No. 1 Jobsite with over 75% traffic share). Identified customer pain points, analysed the industry, performed detailed customer segmentation, 5C and 4P analysis,  created brand positioning, go to market plan, predicted initial investment layout, along with 5 year cost/revenue projections and performed DCF valuation, market sizing and calculated TAM (Total Addresable Market), SAM (Serviceable Available Market) and SOM (Serviceable Obtainable Market).

Industry Analysis - IT Services Industry in India 

Ashoka University — (Feb 2022 - April 2022)

Performed an in-depth industry analysis for the IT services industry in India. Analysed industry structure and used porters five forces to assess competition, barriers to entry, bargaining power of buyers and suppliers. Completed a comprehensive unit economic analysis, identified revenue/cost and CAPEX drivers and commented on the recent supply side challenges and it’s potential impact on profit margins. 

New Venture Plan - "Key" : A Pay Per Article Service to Unlock Quality Paid Journalism  

Ashoka University — (Feb 2022 - May 2022

Quality journalism is often locked behind too many different paywalls making it inaccessible to readers who cannot afford/maintain multiple subscriptions at one time. We proposed a new business plan “Key” -  our mission is to make quality, long-form journalism accessible to more cohorts of people than it currently is. In its present form, Key does this through a platform that allows readers to unlock premium journalism on a per-article basis in the flow of work. In this 3 month live project, we used principles of lean startup approach and proposed a new venture plan to a group of experienced and seasonned investors.

Business Analysis  Report - Zerodha : India's No.1 Stock Broker  

Ashoka University — (Feb 2022 - April 2022)

Created a comprehensive report analysing the factors which made Zerodha India's no. 1 stock broker. Performed industry analysis, identified the competitive landscape and decoded the product building strategy and tech roadmap behind the success of Zerodha. Also completed a comprehensive unit economic analysis, wherein I istudied the business model of the company and its brand building strategies.

Forensic Analysis - Ed-Tech Industry in India

Ashoka University — (Feb 2022 - April 2022)

Performed a detailed Forensic Analysis of India's largest Ed-Tech company, Byju's and highlighted major issues with the company's unit economics & business model. Firstly, we Identified key trends and drivers along with the competitive landscape for the Ed-Tech industry in India, an industry which has grown over 35% CAGR over the past 5 years and is expected to surpass $4Bn by 2025. Secondly, we forecasted the revenue, costs, profitability & valuation of the company and and lastly, we attributed the inflated valuations of the company to the Ed-Tech bubble in India. In April 2022, we forecasted that this bubble would soon burst, a finding which was indeed proven true - the downfall of Byju's since 2022 further strengthen our case.

Real Estate Pitch and SWOT Analysis 

Ashoka University — (Feb 2022 - April 2022)

Analysed the Real Estate Market in Gurgaon, Haryana. Also performed a detailed SWOT analysis for 4 real estate properties and pitched the best one to a panel of industry experts after considering multiple factors like location, price, and upcoming infrastructure.

Governance Entrepreneurship - System Change Campaign Plan

Ashoka University — (Feb 2022 - April 2022)

Spearheaded a system change campaign plan as part of the "Governance Entrepreneurship" course for the issue of "Youth Employability in India". Performed power mapping, stakeholder segmentation, quantitative analysis and built the organizing timeline, negotiation strategy, BATNA, communication plan and ‘change.org’ petition with 170+ supporters to tackle the issue youth employability
